Vehicles cannot be requested by make or model, only by vehicle category.
Minimum Rental Days
Minimum rental period is 5 days.
Minimum rental period 10 days for "one way" rentals from North Island to South Island if the rental is between October through March.
Minimum rental period 10 days for hires between 20th December - 10th January.
Minimum rental period is subject to change during peak periods
Rental days are calculated on a calendar day basis. When calculating the number of days a vehicle is rented, the day of pick-up is counted as day one of the rental, regardless of pick-up time. The day of the vehicleís return is counted as the final day of the rental. The Flex rate for the entire duration of the rental is determined by the date of pick-up, location and date of booking. The daily rate will not change within one booking.
Reservations and Payments
All reservations are confirmed according to vehicle category and not according to vehicle model.
A Down payment of 5% of the total booking amount (minimum 250 NZ$) will be charged after booking confirmation.
All charges are made in USD$ or Euro (depend on the client's nationality) .

Credit card accepted: Visa or Mastercard.
The rest of the payment of the total hire charge for the reserved period is to be paid up to 35 days prior to pick up in US$. Exchange rates according: www.oanda.com
Credit card accepted: Visa or MasterCard.
Extra items will be paid by the client at the pick up location.
All Inclusive Package - must be pre-paid 35 days prior to pick up.
If cancelled 100 days or more prior to pick up - 5% of Total (minimum 250$ NZ)
If cancelled 94 to 26 days prior to pick up - 10% of Total Rental (minimum 250$ NZ)
If cancelled 25 to 10 days prior to pick up - 20% of Total Rental (minimum 250$ NZ)
If cancelled less than 9-3 days prior to pick up - 55% of Total Rental
If cancelled less than 3 days before pick up or no-show - 100% of Total Rental
There is no refund for late pick up or early return of vehicle.
Cancellation fees are of the total amount minus any applied discounts.
In case of travel dates amendment - the cancellation fees calculation is according the original booking or the higher price.
In any case of cancellation, a handling fee of 100$ will be charged in addition to the cancellation fee.
Cancellation notice must be in writing and during office working hours 9am-16 pm Europe time.
after the reservation has been confirmed, a charge of 50$ handling fee will be applied per any change. Changes must be first approved by the rental company.
Different rates may apply based on the amendment made.
If an amendment is made to the rental dates within 14 days of collection, no refund will be made if the length of hire is shortened.
Change of Drop off Destination
If the hirer wishes to change the drop-off destination after the rental has commenced, they must first obtain authorization from the Reservations Center. Subject to the change being approved, an additional charge of up to NZ$750 may apply.
If the Customer wishes to extend the rental whilst on hire, they must first obtain authorization from Reservations (call 0800 831 900). This is subject to availability. The extra cost of an extended rental must be paid by credit card on confirmation of the rental extension.
Failure to obtain an authorization for a rental extension will result in a late fee of NZ$150 per day in addition to the daily rental rate (plus Liability Reduction Option charges) for each day until the Vehicle is returned. The daily rental rate charged will be the rate applicable on the day of extension (which may differ from the original rate booked) per Vehicle for the extended rental period.
Change of Vehicle
Should the vehicle booked be unavailable through unforeseen circumstances, the rental company reserve the right to substitute an alternative vehicle without prior notification and at no extra cost. This shall not constitute a breach of contract and does not entitle the hirer to a refund.
Voluntary Down grade
Should the hirer decide to take a lesser vehicle than booked they will not be entitled to any refund.
A full resident country driver's license, is to be presented at the time of rental.
If the license is not in English format, an international drivers license is also required.
Drivers must be 21 years of age or over.
Liability and Insurance
New Zealand legislation provides limited coverage for personal injury.
We strongly recommend that all people travelling in New Zealand take out personal travel insurance.
(In the USA an excess / Liability is referred to as the "deductible").
All vehicles are insured for damage to the vehicle or to the property of a Third Party. . The customer is responsible for the first 5000$ for HiTop/Voyager vehicles or $7500 for all other vehicles (the Liability) of the cost of damage to Third Party property or to the rented vehicle, including single vehicle accident (does not include single vehicle roll over), windscreen and tire damage, towing and recovery costs, theft, fire, break-in or vandalism with the exception of the "exclusions". This also includes the cost of the daily rental for the period the vehicle is off fleet for accident repairs.
The Liability is applicable regardless of who is at fault and must be paid at the time the accident report is completed, not at the completion of the rental. The Liability will be refunded if the rental company is successful in recovering the cost of the damages from the Third Party. Please note that Third Party claims can take months to resolve.
NOTE - The Liability applies in respect of each claim, not rental.
Please see the "Exclusions" section below, whereby all Liability Reduction cover will be made void.
This NZ$5000/7,500 Liability can be reduced, in most circumstances, by the purchase of Liability Reduction Option 2.
Where a costumer chooses the standard liability option, any damage to their motorhome or any third party property during the hire will be paid during the vehicle drop off process. Costs incurred will be calculated and recovered at end of the hire, regardless of any independent cover they may have. Customers choosing a standard liability option will need to allow sufficient time a t drop off to enable a damage inspection.
VEHICLE LIABILITY AND LIABILITY REDUCTION OPTION
New Zealand legislation provides limited coverage for personal injury. Except where such loss or damage is caused by Britz's (or that of its employees) own negligence or breach of the Britz Rental Agreement Terms and Conditions, Britz does not accept liability for any loss or damage to any personal belongings or property of the Customer (or any person or entity related to the Customer). Britz strongly recommend that all people travelling in New Zealand take out personal travel insurance.
(In the USA a liability is referred to as the "deductible")

The customer is responsible for the first $5000/7,500 ("the liability") of the cost of any damage to third party property or to the rented vehicle, including single vehicle accident (does not include single vehicle roll over), windscreen and tire damage, towing and recovery costs, theft, fire, break-in or vandalism with the exception of the ĎExclusionsí. Where the damage is the customer's fault this also includes the cost of the daily rental for the period the vehicle is being repaired. In addition to these costs, an administration fee of $60 may apply, per claim. The liability applies in respect of each claim, not rental. The $5000/7,500 liability can be reduced by purchasing the Liability Reduction Option or The Inclusive Pack.
Liability Reduction Option
Liability reduced to Nil (ZERO) By Paying: NZ$45 per day (max NZ$2,250)
When the Liability Reduction Option has been purchased, the hirer will have no liability at all with the exception of the 'exclusions'. This cover includes unlimited tyre and windscreen cover for accidental damage.
WE STRONGLY RECOMMEND OUR CUSTOMERS TO TAKE THE PREMIUM / INCLUSIVE PACKAGE WITH ADDITIONAL PROTECTION COVERAGE FOR TRAVEL WITH PEACE OF MIND.
The Liability Reduction Option will not apply and the customer is responsible for all costs arising out of, or incurred in connection with:
1. Any damage caused by willful misconduct (e.g. sitting or standing on the bonnet or roof of the vehicle) or driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, or negligence.
2. Any loss or damage to personal belongings or property of the customer (or any person or entity related to the customer, except where such loss or damage is caused by Britz's (or that of its employees) own negligence or breach of the Britz Rental Agreement Terms and Conditions. Britz recommends the customer does not leave valuables in the vehicle and that they take out personal travel insurance.
3. Any damage where the customer is charged by local authorities for being careless, showing gross negligence or willfulness in failing to abide by the local road rules.
4. Retrieving or recovering a vehicle, which may include, but is not limited to a vehicle that has become bogged, submerged, caught, trapped, stuck or restricted in anyway and/or has been abandoned, in each chase in circumstances within the control of the customer.
5. Replacing keys, which have been lost or stolen or retrieval of keys which have been locked in a vehicle.
6. Overhead and underbody damage to the vehicle however caused, except where Liability Reduction Option or the Inclusive Pack has been purchased.
7. Any single vehicle rollover except where the Inclusive Pack has been purchased
8. Damage caused to the vehicle because total load (kg) has exceeded recommended load as stated in vehicle manual. Vehicles are not to be used for the purpose of transporting and haulage of goods other than what might be reasonably expected of a leisure rental.
9. Damage caused by drivers not identified on the rental agreement and/or drivers whose license has been cancelled or suspended and/or drivers who have a licence that is classified as a learners or probationary license.
10. Any damage caused to the vehicle due to incorrect the use of snow chains.
11. Any damage associated with the incorrect use of fuel (fuel being diesel or petrol), which includes Bio-Diesel which should not be used, or water or other contamination of fuel.
12. Any water related damage which includes, but is not limited to, vehicle submersion, contact with salt water, creek or river crossings, driving through flooded areas and beach driving.
13. The vehicle rented may only be used to carry the maximum number of passengers as dictated by the vehicle type. If more passengers are carried than what is allowed Britz does not accept any liability.
14. Using the vehicle in contravention of any legislation or regulation controlling vehicular traffic
Vehicle Security Deposit (Bond) - Payable at station
If the Liability Reduction Option or the Inclusive Pack is not taken, the customer must pay the Liability Deposit. The Liability Deposit is $5000 for HiTop and Voyager and 7500$ for all other models and is applicable regardless if the hirer has purchased private travel insurance.
The customer must provide a valid credit card to pay the Liability Deposit and the amount will be debited to the customerís credit card on the day of vehicle collection. The credit card holder must be present and able to sign for the Liability Deposit upon vehicle collection. The credit card holder is jointly and severally liable for any damage to the rental vehicle. Any type of pre-paid travel card is not acceptable as a means to provide a Liability Deposit.
The Liability Deposit is subject to a 3.1% credit card administration fee in addition to the Liability Deposit amount when the credit card used is either a Visa or MasterCard, or 4.6% when the credit card used is American Express. The credit card administration fees are subject to change.
Only the hirer's credit card is acceptable to use for the purpose of the security bond.
Accepted credit cards are: Visa Card, Visa Credit, MasterCard, MasterCard Credit, and American Express.
3.1% administration fee will apply to all Visa and MasterCard transactions.
4.6% administration fee will apply to American Express cards.
Credit card administration fees also apply to debited security bonds.
The credit card holder will be jointly and severally liable as a customer.
If you do not take a Liability Reduction Option, the vehicle security deposit is $5000 for HiTop and Voyager and 7500$ for all other models payable by credit card. The NZ$5000 or NZ$7,500 is debited to the hirerís credit card when the vehicle is collected. For this reason it is important that the hirer have the funds available on the credit card and that the amount does not exceed the hirerís daily withdrawal allowance.
If Liability Reduction Option 2 is nominated or the package booked is the Beitz Inclusive Package the vehicle security deposit is NZ$250.
The NZ$250 is taken as an imprint to the hirerís credit card when the vehicle is collected. An imprint simply records a figure against the hirerís credit card of NZ$250 that Britz can then debit if required.
The liability Deposit is fully refundable, including the credit card surcharge, if the card used to provide the Liability Deposit is a Visa or MasterCard credit card, provided the vehicle is returned undamaged. Britz recommend that customers use Visa or MasterCard credit card for the liability Deposit, as the credit card administration fee that applies when using American Express is NOT refundable.
The customer authorizes Britz to retain the details of their credit card and to take any action to recover from the credit card the amounts due by the customer pursuant to the Britz Rental Agreement Terms and Conditions. These charges including, but not limited to, vehicle cleaning (this includes toilet and waste water tank emptying), speeding, toll way, parking or freedom camping fines, on road assistance, delivery and return of vehicle, late drop off fees, failure to return the vehicle with full diesel or petrol tanks or full LPG bottle (pre-paid fuel and pre-paid gas is included in the Express Return Pack), rental extensions or Exclusions. For security purposes, only the customerís credit card can be used for the Credit Card Authority.
Return the Vehicle / Fines
All vehicles must be returned clean on the inside, with emptied toilet and waste water tank and with full petrol, diesel and gas tanks.
NZ $220 cleaning fee will be charged if the vehicle is not returned in a clean condition. This includes smoking related cleaning, as smoking is not permitted in the vehicle.
NZ $125 soiling fee will be retained if the toilet and waste water tank will not be emptied prior to the return of the vehicle (Included in the Express Return Pack)
Freedom Camping is an offence in New Zealand and an administration fee of $60 will apply if an unpaid notice is received by the rental company.
Exchange Rate / Currency Variations
All credit card transactions are conducted in New Zealand dollars. Due to exchange rate fluctuations there could be some variance in the amount refunded compared to the amount initially charged. The rental company does not accept any liability for variances up or down.

Pick Up and Drop Off
7 days a week, 08:00-16:30 except on Christmas Day. (25th December)

Please Note: There are no Hotel or Airport pick-ups.
There will be no refund for late pick up.
There will be no refund for early return.
If the Customer wishes to drop-off the Vehicle after business hours, they must first get approval from Reservations (call 0800 651 080). Failure to obtain authorization for a drop off outside business hours will result in an additional daily fee of NZ$150 in addition to the daily rate being charged.
If the late drop-off is approved, a fee of NZ$150 is applicable and the Customer will be required to pay an extra dayís Liability Reduction Option charge (if applicable) as they will be held responsible for the Vehicle up until the time that it is checked in by a Britz staff member the following day.
* Before signing the contract please check the vehicle from the inside and outside and make sure there are no damages or broken parts. If there is some damage, have it noted to the rental agent in writing.
* Make sure you have all the items you paid for, and that nothing is missing.
* Before the departure makes sure you know how to operate all the motorhome systems, mechanicals and electrical: refrigerator, heating, air condition, water etc. If it's not clear, you may ask for explanations.
* Please ask for a map or directions to nearby campground and supermarkets for you to stock up on food and bottled water.
Transfers - Important information!
Auckland and Christchurch
The rental company provides free airport to branch and branch to airport transfer on day of arrival and departure for Auckland and Christchurch Branches every half an hour. The last available airport departure to the branch for pick-up within normal hours is 4:00pm. Clients leaving the airport after this time will have to pick-up the following day. Pick-ups and drop-offs outside normal office hours must be made by prior arrangement. 7 days notice is required, please advise at time of booking. Please refer to notes regarding delayed flights!
The transfer bus stops outside Gate 10 at the International Airport arrivals area and outside door 5 at Auckland Domestic Airport.
On arrival at Christchurch Domestic Airport, clients should proceed to the Free Phone information boards situated in the luggage claim area and dial the phone number specified on the rental company is board.
On arrival at Christchurch International Airport, clients should proceed to the rental company rentals counter, or if that is unmanned, to the International Airport Information Center. A courtesy bus will be dispatched to collect them from the main Airport arrival entrance. 10 minutes should be allowed for the shuttle to arrive.
Branch is located at the airport.
All Campervans and Rental Cars will be dispatched from the rental company is desk at the Queenstown Airport.
An Airport pick-up fee of NZ$95 will apply for all hires with pick-up at Queenstown Airport. This surcharge is payable to directly upon collection of the vehicle.
Motorhomes can only be driven on sealed/bitumen or well-maintained roads. Vehicles shall not be driven on:
Skippers Road (Queenstown)
Crown Range Road (Queenstown)
Ball Hut Road (Mt. Cook)
Ninety Mile Beach (Northland)
North of Colville Township (Coromandel Peninsula)
All ski field access roads (from 01 June to 31 October).
Britz reserves the right at its sole discretion to restrict vehicle movements in certain areas due to adverse road or weather conditions.
All vehicles are fully maintained, serviced and detailed between rentals by our experienced staff.
We have few problems, however, if advice or assistance is required, support is available to every client throughout New Zealand by telephoning our toll-free phone number.
On Road Assistance
Any problems associated with the vehicle, including equipment failure, must be reported to the rental company as soon as possible, and within 24 hours in order to give the rental company the opportunity to rectify the problem during the rental. Failure to do so will compromise any claims for compensation. We do not accept liability for any claims submitted after this period.

The on-road assistance will cover, free of charge, any technical malfunction of the Vehicle arising from a manufacturing or material fault that directly renders the part concerned unfit for operation during the Rental Period and for which a claim is not excluded. Claims will be excluded, and the Customer will be charged for any on-road assistance, where the malfunction was caused by the Customerís actions or omissions, or where the fault is not covered by the Vehicle manufacturerís guarantee. This will include any on-road assistance for the following:
(a) The vehicle running out of fuel.
(b) The keys being locked inside the Vehicle or lost.
(c) Flat batteries caused by incorrect usage of the batteries and or incorrect usage of any equipment that requires the batteries to operate.
(d) A breakdown caused by damage caused in an accident.
(e) A breakdown caused by willful neglect.
All on-road assistance required or managed due to circumstances covered above or otherwise as a result of the Customerís actions or omissions, will incur a minimum charge of NZ$180 plus any additional charges provided by third party assistance.
The insurance Excess is per accident and is applicable regardless of who is at fault and must be paid at the time the accident report is completed, not at the completion of the rental. The insurance Excess will be refunded if we are successful in recovering the cost of the damages from the third party. Please understand that it can take up to two years. If you are involved in a motor vehicle accident whilst on hire please ensure you follow this procedure:
At the accident scene:
1. Obtain the names and addresses of third parties and any witnesses.
2. Do not accept blame or insist other party is at fault.
3. Report the accident to police, regardless of estimated damage costs.
4. Photograph damage to all vehicle/s and registration number/s. if possible, take more than one photo showing different angles.
5. Phone your nearest branch with the accidents details within 24 hours.
At The Branch:
1. The customer must produce their driver's license and hand over the police report (if applicable) and any supporting photographs.
2. Customers are required to pay the accident Excess (if applicable).
3. The customer service representative will ensure the motor vehicle accident report is completed clearly and accurately and signed by the customer.
Repairs up to NZ$200 may be affected without authorization and will be reimbursed.
For amounts over NZ$200, client must inform the rental company in advance.
Repairs will be approved provided the hirer was not directly responsible for the damage.
Receipts must be submitted for any repair or the claim will not be paid.
Unless the Customer has taken the Liability Reduction Option or The Inclusive pack, the Customer will pay for the cost of repairing or replacing tyres damaged during the Rental Period except if the tire is defective, and inspected and confirmed by a Britz authorized service centre.
Infringements / Traffic Fines
The rental company reserves the right to charge the hirer for any speeding, toll way or parking fines and/or vehicle damage including Third Party property damage not reported on return of the vehicle. In addition to these costs, The rental company reserve the right to charge for associated administration costs for processing the fines (irrespective of excess) and/or all insurance claims in the event of the customer not having a NIL excess. In addition to the costs associated per fine and/or insurance claim, an administration fee of $60 will be applicable.
No animals are permitted, excluding guide dogs.
When making a booking that will require crossings between North & South Island, we ask that you advise us the preferred crossing times, and we are happy to make the booking with the InterIslander or Lynx Fast Ferry.
The customers then collect their tickets on pick-up and pay for the ferry at the branch.
It is essential to pre-book ferries in the New Zealand Summer months between November and March.
We will reconfirm to you the actual sailing time when it is confirmed to us.
The approximate time to cross by InterIslander ferry is 3 hours, and Lynx Fast Ferry is 2 hours & 15 minutes.
Please be sure to advise the number of passengers and ages of children for a ferry crossing.
All vehicles must be taken across on the ferry. They cannot be left at Picton or Wellington.
Ferry Crossings - Cancellations and Payment Requirements
* Payment for the ferry charges must be collected in full at the time of booking.
Illustrations and text in our website are a representation only of the vehicle depicted. Variances in the vehicles offered for rental may occur due to substitutions made by the Rental Company or modifications and/or upgrades to the vehicle design made by the manufacturer.

Motorhome International is independent, not an agent for any particular car/motor-home rental company. Motorhome International arrange the rental between the client and the rental company. When you pick up the vehicle, you must sign a rental contract provided by the rental company and subject to local laws.
