England - Terms & Conditions

The Minimum Rental is 7 Days


Reservations / Payments
Reservations of motorhomes
are only binding after they have been confirmed by the Rental Firm and then only for vehicle groups, not for vehicle types.

A Down payment of 50% of the total booking amount is charged after booking is confirmed.

The rest of the payment is due and payable 35 days prior to pick up day via credit card Visa or Master card or via bank transfer.

For reservation made 35 days or less prior to pick up day - full amount is due immediately after confirmation.


Cancellations Fee

* Until 51 days prior to pick up -50% of total reservation amount
* From the 50th day to the 16th day prior to pick up - 75% of total amount,

* From the 15th day till the day of pick up / or Non show - 100% of total amount,

* In any case of cancellation, a handling fee of 50 GBP will be charged, in addition to the cancellation fee.

We reserve the right to amend our cancellation policy for certain special events.


Changing reservation

After the reservation has been confirmed, a charge of handling fee of 20 GBP will be

applied per any change. This refers only to MINOR changes like adding items, or

changing the pick up/drop off date in 1-2 days. Major changes like: changing dates,

changing model, changing location, changing client name would be concidered as

cancellation of the booking and will cause cancellation fees.

Changes may be made to a reservation confirmed to the Hirer from the date of

reservation until at least sixty days before the agreed commencement of the rental

period, as long as the Rental Firm has alternative capacity and the alternative booking

corresponds in amount to the first.

Rebookings are only possible in the same calender year.

Security deposit

A security deposit 2014 rentals:  1250 GBP
The refundable security deposit is payable by the hirer upon the vehicle collection
The deposit can be paid by credit card
Visa and Mastercard only, or can be paid by cash. American Express or Diners credit cards are not acceptable sorry.

* Please note that a 2.5% charge will be levied to cover banking fees when a credit card is used to make a payment.

In the event of damage to the motorhome (interior & exterior) or third party property the full deposit amount will be taken from the hirer to cover the insurance excess.  The hirer will have excess or any other amount due in respect of any damage arising from an accident, loss or damage is payable at the time of reporting the event and not at the end of the Rental Period.

The damage deposit will be released on the satisfactory return of the vehicle, being on time and in the same condition it was hired. Deductions will be taken from this deposit in respect of any damage, late returns and equipment replacement costs that are not covered under the insurance policy.

Fuel / Gas / Water

A full tank of fuel is supplied with the vehicle at commencement of hire and is expected to be returned with a full tank. A charge of 4 GBP per litre will apply for any fuel shortage.

It is the hirerís responsibility to check and maintain oil and water levels to vehicle specifications.

One Full refillable gas cylinder will be supplied at commencement of hire This must be returned full or a charge of 30 GBP will be made.
A second gas cylinder (calor) is available for a non-refundable amount of 30 GBP.

Any cylinders lost or incorrectly exchanged will be charged to the hirer.


One-way rentals
One way rental are not possible. Sorry.

Minimum age / Authorized drivers / Driving License

* Age Limits: 25 to 75 years.

* All drivers must have had a valid license for 2 years.

* Maximum of 4 drivers per rental.

* All drivers must be present at checkout of the Motorhome. No exceptions can be made.

* Production of a full, valid driver's license as well as 2 proofs of address or passport are required for all drivers at the start of the hire. Should the drivers fail to present all correct documentation and identification on collection of the Motorhome, the Amber Leisure will be unable to release the Motorhome and no refunds will be given.

* If you have a modern UK driving license we require both the photo card and paper counterpart
* If you are required to supply an International license in addition to your standard license to drive in the UK or Europe, this must be issued in the country your standard license was issued in and be supplied alongside your standard driving license.

* The rental company may not be able to get cover for any driver who has had a driving conviction other than for speeding. Please contact the office to see if cover can be arranged.

* Drivers are personally liable for all legal penalties (e.g.: parking tickets, congestion charges, speeding fines) which are incurred during the period of hire.

Additional drivers
* First additional driver (age 25 +) = free of charge
* Second and third additional driver/s = 5 GBP per day, per each driver, (max charge 75 GBP per each driver).

* Additional Driver age 21-25: 10 GBP per day (subject to acceptance by Insurers).

* Points on licence: 1 GBP per day per point (max charge 42 GBP). Convictions with the following codes may not get cover AC,BA,CD,DD,DR,MS,TT,UT and IN. Please check with us if you wish to insure a driver with any of these codes on their licence even if you think they have expired.


* Please Note that some of the vehicles have a total weight of more than 3.5 tones and that to drive these vehicles an appropriate driving license is required.


NOTE: vehicles in the UK are driven in the left-hand side of the road .

Pick up and Drop off

Pick up and drop off are possible only in the rental depot. Monday to Saturday.

No pickup and drop off on Sunday and holidays

Pick up and drop off times as shown in the rental contract are binding.


Getting to the Rental Depot / Transfers

There are FREE transfers from Heathrow airport or Luton airport or from Train Station.
Other special transfers (from hotel or other airport) can be arranged with extra charge.

Depot Operation Hours.
Monday - Friday 08.30 to 17.00. Pick up between 1pm - 4pm, return between 08.30am - 11.30am
Saturday 08.30 to 12.30. Return of Motorhome by 11.30am
Sunday & public holidays: closed unless by prior arrangement.

Pick Up times:
Monday - Friday 1pm- 4pm

Please allow 1 hour for the hand-over at the depot - to complete the documentation and demonstrate your vehicle to you. Please allow the same on your return.

Pick up and drop off times as shown in the rental contract are binding. Failure to comply with these times will result in hirer being charged at the rate of 100 GBP per hour and being uninsured.



* Before signing the contract please check the vehicle from the inside and outside and make sure there are no damages or broken parts. If there is some damage, have it noted to the rental agent in writing.

* Make sure you have all the items you paid for, and that nothing is missing.

* Before the departure make sure you know how to operate all the motorhome systems, mechanicals and electrical: refrigerator, heating, air condition, water etc. If it's not clear, you may ask for explanations.

* Please ask for a map or directions to nearby campground and supermarkets for you to stock up on food and bottled water.


Drop Off times :
Monday - Friday 08.30am- 11.30am
Saturday 9am- 11.30am

The vehicle must be returned on the date, and before the time stated on the rental agreement and no later than 11.30am.

On return of the vehicle all hirers are to ensure the vehicle is clean and tidy and the chemical toilet is clean and free from waste in the same condition as they left the depot.
It is entirely the hirer's responsibility to check that on collection the vehicle is free from damage and defects.

Cleaning charge - In the case of gross negligence the rental company reserves the right to charge 75 GBP to cover the cost for additional valeting and upholstery cleaning.

A separate charge of 75 GBP if the toilet waste tank is not empty upon return.

A charge of 100 GBP will be made if any evidence is found of smoking in the Motorhome.
Late Return - A charge of 100 GBP per hour (or Part hour) for late return will be payable if not returned by the agreed time. The vehicle will also not be insured !

Early return - There will be no refund for early return.
Fines - The hirer is responsible for all parking/motoring offences during the hire period and will pay an administration fee of 25 GBP on top of the fine.


Liability and Insurance
Fully comprehensive insurance is provided within the hire charge and for the hire period only, driving outside this period of cover would deem to be an offence under the road traffic act. Furthermore the hirer is entirely responsible for any accidental damage, injury and consequential loss after the expiry of the hire period.

The driver/s covered under the policy will be driving on a 1250 GBP excess per event (and 2000 GBP per event if the 6Berth Luxury model is booked).

A refundable security deposit of 1250 GBP is payable by the hirer upon the vehicle collection, except for the 6Berth Luxury2 models, where the deposit is 2000 GBP.

The hirer will be responsible for the excess or any other amount due by him in respect of any damage arising from an accident, loss or damage is payable at the time of reporting the event and not at the end of the Rental Period.

The damage deposit will be released on the satisfactory return of the vehicle, being on time and in the same condition it was hired. Deductions will be taken from this deposit in respect of any damage, late returns and equipment replacement costs that are not covered under the insurance policy.

It is advised that hirer takes out separate travel insurance as no cover is provided for personal possessions.

Any damage to tyres, windscreen and any theft or loss of personal effects is not covered by our insurance and shall be at your expense.  

The rental company must be notified if hirer intends on leaving the country, failure to do so would invalidate your insurance cover. A charge is made for travel to Europe and a list of acceptable countries is available upon request.

In the event of any accident, loss or damage arising out of the use of the vehicle, the hirer MUST Notify The rental company within 24hrs of the incident occurring, Obtain the names and addresses of third parties and any witnesses and report the event to the nearest police station Complete an accident form as supplied, Not make any admission of liability to other parties, settlement offer or any other like offer and assist The rental company in handling any claim arising from any event, including providing all relevant information and attending Court to give evidence.

The hirer will pay for any costs relating to the delivery of a changeover vehicle as a result of an accident regardless of which party is at fault. However if no vehicle is available or insurers refuse to offer further cover, then the hire will end with no refund of monies being due the rental company.


The Client's responsibility / Prohibited use / Duty of care
* The hirer must ensure that all passengers must wear seat belts provided.

* The hirer is responsible for all parking/motoring offences during the hire period and will pay an administration fee of 25 GBP on top of the fine.

* The hirer must ensure the vehicle is not overloaded and carries only the correct number of passengers as per vehicle specifications.

* The hirer must not use the vehicle for hire or reward.

* The hirer will not tow any vehicle or trailer behind vehicle. (unless already agreed)

* The hirer is responsible for ensuring the vehicle is locked when left unattended.

* The hirer will ensure all hatches and doors are securely fastened during transit.

* The hirer will take all reasonable steps to properly maintain the Vehicle including checking oil and coolant levels, tyre pressures and batteries.

* In the event of any accident, loss or damage arising out of the use of the vehicle,  the hirer will he rental company within 24hrs of the incident occurring

* The vehicle can only be used by an authorised driver.
* The hirer
must NOT be under the influence of alcohol, drugs or have a blood alcohol content that exceeds the legal limit in the Country, State or Territory in which the Motorhome is driven

* The hirer must NOT allow or permit the Motorhome to be used for any illegal purpose or in breach of any legislation, regulations, rules or by laws relating to road traffic and use.

* The hirer acknowledges that the rental company retains the title to the Vehicle and its contents and that I possess the goods as a mere bailee only. The hirer does not have any right to pledge the rental company's credit in connection with the Vehicle and agree not to do so. The hirere shall not agree, attempt, offer or purport to sell, assign, sublet, lend, pledge, mortgage, let on hire, or otherwise part with the personal possession of or otherwise deal with the Vehicle.


The Rental company responsibility

Delays - While we will endeavour to make every effort to ensure the vehicle is ready at the agreed time, circumstances may arise out of our control and we accept no liability other than, the refund of the day or days lost.

Availability - We will make every effort to ensure that the reserved Motorhome is available for you at the correct time. If, due to circumstances beyond our control, this is not possible and if an alternative vehicle or acceptable Motorhome is not available our liability is limited to refunds of all monies paid by you.

Defects -The rental company will carry out a full Pre-Checkout Inspection (PCI) on every Motorhome before the commencement of hire. The PCI involves testing every system on board the Motorhome to ensure they are operating correctly. In conjunction with this the hirer will be taken on a tour of the Motorhome and shown how each system works (and that it works). Should an onboard system fail during your hire, The rental company will make every effort to remedy the fault whilst you are away but in some cases this may not be possible and The rental company cannot be held responsible and will not refund any monies should a loss of service be encountered.


Breakdown and Accidents

In the event of a breakdown or accident services will be at your disposal 24 hours a day 7 day a week.

Repairs - You are authorised to spend up to 50 GBP on necessary repairs and we will reimburse you against a valid vat receipt. Any repairs above 50 GBP need to be authorised by a member of staff at the rental company.

Any breakdown, malfunction or damage caused by hirerís negligence will be made good at your expense. Every effort is made to ensure the vehicle is in a roadworthy and safe condition prior to each and every hire. Therefore the rental company dissolves any responsibility for hotel or any other consequential expenses subsequent to a breakdown.

However the rental company will refund the loss for any complete days lost for the use of the vehicle providing you have documentation to support this claim.


Road Restrictions

All vehicles may only be driven on sealed/bitumen roads.

The rental company reserves the right at any time, at its sole discretion, to restrict vehicle movements in certain areas due to adverse weather conditions or any other reasonable cause.

Driving in UK
If you are driving in the UK for the first time it could be a little daunting, here is a basic guideline for you and help you enjoy driving in the UK by knowing what to expect:
* Drive on the left-hand side of the road.
* Always pass (overtake) on the outside (right) lane.

* Do not block the middle lane if the inside lane is clear.
* When approaching a roundabout, give priority to traffic approaching from the right, unless otherwise indicated.
* You must always stop at a red traffic light.
* At a junction there's no general priority rule - priority is marked at most junctions.
* All traffic signals and road signs must be obeyed.
* All vehicles must give way to emergency services vehicles.
* The use of a car horn is not permitted in built-up areas from 23:30 to 07:00 hours.
* Do not drive in bus lanes during restricted hours. See signs by the side of the road for times.
* It's illegal to use a mobile phone when driving. If you need to make a call, find a safe place to stop first. On Motorways or multiple lane roads:
* Always pass (overtake) on the outside (right) lane.
* Do not block the middle lane if the inside lane is clear.

Seat belts must be worn by the driver and front seat passenger. Where rear seat belts have been fitted, they must also be worn


Driving in London City
London was the world's first major city to introduce a congestion charge to reduce the flow of traffic into and around the city centre.
Do Not enter Great London with a motorhome, there are heavy daily charges in that area and lots of cameras. Learn more


European Travel
There is an additional charge for European travel to cover European Insurance and European Roadside assistance. European Insurance is mandatory and you will be in breach of these terms and conditions should you take a Motorhome into Europe without the additional European cover insurance.

Please advise of your intensions at the time of the booking.



Prior agreement must be made for pets to be allowed in the Motorhome.


The company operates a strict policy of no smoking within our motorhomes. Failure to comply with this will result in a charge of 500 GBP being made.


Upon signing the Booking Form the hirer is legally deemed to have agreed and accepted these Terms and Conditions and shall be governed by the Law of Great Britain in which this was signed.


Safety Rules

In every refueling and every time before you start out on a journey, please switch the gas-fuelled equipment off.


Winter Warning

External temperatures of 0 C (32 Fahrenheit) or below might cause the pipes to freeze. Under weather conditions like these, the vehicle will have to be permanently heated.

Please observe the instructions as to the frost protection device, which protects the boiler against frost. If the vehicle is not sufficiently heated, the frost protection device discharges the water from the boiler in order to prevent the boiler walls from breaking.

Motorhome International is independent, not an agent for any particular car/motor-home rental company. Motorhome International arrange the rental between the client and the rental company. when you pick up the vehicle, you must sign a rental contract provided by the rental company and subject to local laws.
