Total Distance: 1212 km
Duration: 8-10 Day

Alice Springs

Pick up your motorhome at our depot in Alice Springs and spend some time getting used to the technical aspects of your vehicle. "The Alice" , as it is locally known, has enough to offer for a few days' stay. Stroll around the city centre with its many shops and art galleries, visit the Royal Flying Doctor Service, have a look at the School of the Air or make a trip to the Telegraph Station.
Overnight: Heavitree Gap Outback Resort

Alice Springs To >>>    Glen Helen Gorge -132 km
You can take a ride in a balloon very early in the morning and enjoy a magnificent sunrise from a different perspective.  Drive west, out of Alice Springs, along the Namatjira Drive to Ormiston Gorge and Glen Helen Gorge. In this area you will only find dirt roads, therefore a 4 WD is required.
Overnight: Glen Helen Homestead Caravan Park

Glen Helen Gorge To >>>    Kings Canyon - 300 km
Drive south to Hermannsburg, a mission established in the middle of the last century. A further 9 km south is Palm Valley, which is situated in the Finke Gorge Nationalpark. It is a gorge filled with tropical palm trees, which are strangely misplaced in the dry Red Centre. Have a walk in this area, then drive back to Hermannsburg and further south-west to Kings Canyon. You are now travelling on a very bumpy dirt road. If you arrive in time you can join the Kukara Twilight Tour and view a magnificent sunset.
Overnight: Frontier Kings Canyon Caravan Park

Kings Canyon
Get up early in the morning to escape the heat of the day and the flies! During a walk along the edge of Kings Canyon you pass natural features such as Lost City and Garden of Eden, where you can take a break to relax. The whole walk will take approximately 4 hours. Spend the afternoon relaxing at your campground.
Overnight: Frontier Kings Canyon Caravan Park

Kings Canyon To >>>    Ayers Rock  -317 km
Travel further south to Ayers Rock and spend some time to watch an amazing sunset from the Ayers Rock lookout. You will be impressed how the colours of the rock change during sunset.
Overnight: Ayers Rock Resort Campground

Ayers Rock / Olgas
Get up very early in the morning and climb famous Ayers Rock. You should take enough drinking water, sunscreen as well as a hat with you, as it can get very hot later in the morning.
If you do not want to climb the rock, you can also walk along the base and join a guided tour. There are lots of Aboriginal sites along the base.
Have a long lunch break to escape the heat of the day and continue another 45 km to Kata Tjuta - the Olgas. You can walk there during the late afternoon hours and watch the sunset from Kata Tjuta lookout afterwards.
Overnight: Ayers Rock Resort Campground.

Ayers Rock To >>>    Alice Springs  -463 km
If you feel like getting up early again, it is well worth doing a scenic flight over Ayers Rock and Olgas. Drive back to Stuart Highway and north to Alice Springs.
90 km before Alice Springs you pass Virginia Camel Farm. Take a ride on a camel before you continue on to Alice Springs.
Overnight: Heavitree Gap Outback Resort

Alice Springs
Spend another day in Alice Springs and enjoy being back in civilisation. Drop your motorhome off at our Alice Springs depot.
